Your guide to Umrah from the UK
The Saudi government removed the mahram requirement for female Umrah pilgrims in 2019. Women of any age perform Umrah alone or as part of a women-only group without a male guardian — no permission letter or mahram declaration is required on the Nusuk Platform visa application. Solo women Umrah packages provide female-friendly hotel accommodation, private transfers and a female guide throughout the journey. Women-only group packages place female pilgrims together with a dedicated female group leader, shared hotel rooms on a women-only floor and group Ziyarat tours.
Packages run across 7-night, 10-night and 14-night durations. Women choose from 3 tiers: 3-star economy hotels offer clean rooms at the lowest per-person rate, 4-star comfort properties provide upgraded facilities and closer proximity to the Haram, and 5-star premium hotels stand directly overlooking or adjacent to Masjid al-Haram. Hotels at every tier sit within walking distance of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and close to the women’s entrance of Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah. Contact Labbaik Hajj Umrah with your preferred tier, duration and travel dates for a current women’s Umrah quote.
Every women’s package covers 5 essentials: return flights from a UK airport, hotel accommodation in Makkah and Madinah with women-only room allocation, Saudi visa processing through the Nusuk Platform, private airport-to-hotel transfers and inter-city transport between the two cities. The Saudi government issues the Umrah visa free of charge — the fee UK pilgrims pay covers agency processing and the Nusuk service package. Solo female travellers and women-only groups receive their visas as part of the same booking.
Flights depart from London Heathrow with direct services to Jeddah on Saudia and British Airways. Connecting routes through Istanbul, Doha or Dubai open departures from Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and other regional airports. A female guide accompanies group packages and assists with tawaf, sa’i and Ziyarat tours covering historical sites including Masjid Quba, Uhud and Jabal al-Nour. All packages are ATOL protected — the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) arranges a refund or continuation, if the provider ceases trading.
Women without school-age dependents have the widest choice of travel windows. Off-peak months — September, October and November — carry lower per-person rates and fewer crowds at the Haram. Ramadan carries the highest spiritual reward and peak-season pricing. December and Easter windows suit women who travel during UK school holidays. Mothers and daughters, sisters and friends book together under the same women-only group package for shared rooms and a group Ziyarat schedule.
Early booking — 8–12 weeks ahead — secures preferred hotels and flights, especially for Ramadan and December departures. Women-only group departures run on set dates throughout the year — contact Labbaik for the next available group departure from your preferred UK airport. Labbaik holds Air Travel Organiser’s Licence (ATOL) 74904 and International Air Transport Association (IATA) accreditation, and submits your Umrah visa application through the official Nusuk Platform on your behalf — your booking is financially protected and processed through the official Saudi system. Yes — since 2019 the Saudi government allows women of any age to perform Umrah without a mahram (male guardian). Women travel solo or as part of a women-only group. No permission letter or mahram declaration is required on the Nusuk Platform visa application. UK passport holders receive an e-visa without visiting the Saudi embassy. Each passport must have at least 6 months’ validity and 2 blank pages at the time of travel.
No — women Umrah packages serve solo female travellers, women-only groups and mothers travelling with daughters or female relatives. Solo packages provide individual room allocation and a dedicated female guide. Group packages place 3–15 women together with shared rooms on a women-only floor, a female group leader and group Ziyarat tours. Women travelling with male family members book a standard or family Umrah package instead.
Yes — every women-only group package includes a dedicated female guide who accompanies the group throughout the journey. The female guide assists with tawaf at Masjid al-Haram, sa’i between Safa and Marwah, Ziyarat tours in both Makkah and Madinah, and day-to-day logistics at the hotel. Solo packages include female guide support on request. The guide speaks English and is experienced in assisting first-time female pilgrims with Umrah rituals.
Women Umrah package costs depend on 4 factors: star level, duration, travel month and solo or group booking. 3-star economy packages carry the lowest per-person rate, 4-star comfort sits in the mid-range and 5-star premium commands the highest. Women-only group packages cost less per person than solo bookings because room and transfer costs are shared. Off-peak months run below Ramadan and December peaks. Contact Labbaik with your preferred tier and travel dates for a current quote.
Yes — hotels at every tier sit within walking distance of Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and close to the women’s entrance of Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah. 5-star premium hotels stand directly overlooking or adjacent to the Haram. 4-star and 3-star hotels sit within a 5–15 minute walk. Women-only floor allocation keeps rooms separate from male pilgrims. Hotels provide prayer areas on women-only floors for convenience between scheduled prayers at the Haram.
Pack 2–3 loose-fitting abayas (cotton for breathability), hijabs, underscarves, and prayer garments. Comfortable walking shoes are a must — pilgrims walk between the hotel and the Haram several times daily. Bring unscented toiletries, a reusable water bottle, personal medications and a small cross-body bag for daily use. A lightweight prayer mat, Quran and tasbeeh are recommended. Women do not wear ihram cloth — modest everyday clothing in any colour serves as ihram. Pack a light jacket for air-conditioned hotels and cooler Madinah evenings.
Book 8–12 weeks ahead for Ramadan and December departures and 4–6 weeks ahead for off-peak months. Women-only group departures run on set dates and fill based on group capacity — early booking secures a confirmed seat in the next available group. Solo packages offer more flexible travel dates. Labbaik confirms availability and pricing at the time of enquiry and holds your booking once a deposit is received.
